Bible Events Seen From Google Earth

Bible Events Seen From Google EarthEver wondered how some of the Bible stories you learned in Sunday School would look like from a satellite view? The Glue Society has re-created scenes from the Bible as if captured by Google Earth’s satellites and they are truly stunning. The Glue Society is a creative collective based in Sydney and New York comprising of writers, designers, art directors and film directors.

“We like to disorientate audiences a little with all our work. And with this piece we felt technology now allows events which may or may not have happened to be visualized and made to appear dramatically real. As a method of representation satellite photography is so trusted, it has been interesting to mess with that trust.” James Dive – Glue Society’s

The images known collectively as God’s Eye View, were commissioned by Eric Romano of NY’s Pulse Art for their Miami art fair, and use real satellite imagery to achieve the incredible effect. Let’s see what they created!

The name of the collection “God’s Eye View” coincides with Isaiah 40:22

“He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers…”

But God is actually closer to us than a Google Earth view, as explained in Luke 12:7

“But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

God’s care extends to every hair in the sense that He knows us intimately, He created us and cares about every detail of our lives. The fact that He knows the number of hairs on our heads shows that we are extremely valuable to Him. The God of the universe and creator of all things puts more value on you than the whole world and the most important thing we can do with the life He has given to us is to give it back to Him.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36

God is completely in control over everything and nothing we can do can stop Him from loving us. Which other Biblical event would you like to see portrayed this way? Share you thoughts in the comment area below.

I’ll wait for you to comment back.

Hi Jake, please feel free to re-post the article on your blog, I cannot give you direct permission to use the images, since they do not belong to INSPIKS.com. and they were downloaded from google search, so please use them at your own risk, thanks.

Hey this is a pretty neat idea, looking down does give you a new perspective on things. I would imagine that there were probably more than 5 people at Jesus Crucifixion though (at least 5 soldiers to hang 3 people).
