Sold out for Jesus?

October 24, 2011| Brandon.Peters

I know there are some areas in my Christian walk that are still lacking, and it’s frustrating. I want to be 110% sold out for Jesus, but I’m not, and it’s seriously worry’s me, because what does it mean to be a follower of Jesus? It means to be lead by The Spirit, each and every day, but if I’m honest, I don’t always want to be lead by The Spirit. I think that my biggest issue right now is pride, I’m okay with being a follower of Christ, that’s something I want the world to know, but I don’t want people to think I’m weird by trying to tell them about Jesus.

Here’s the thing, I’m willing to do a lot of things for Jesus, If He tells me to sell everything and go do missions, sure! If He tells me to give up my current career path for another one, sure!, but if He tells me to go up to someone at work and talk to him or her about Him, I don’t think I’d do it. To be honest I find that much harder than anything else. I mean, if the conviction was strong enough and it was very clear, then maybe. I’m okay with people knowing I’m a Christian, but for whatever reason I don’t have the boldness to witness to strangers. I’m a coward.

“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21:8

To be honest, I want to say that I’ve been spit on, beat up, or kicked out of places for sharing the Gospel. But I can’t. I’m not worthy. Anyways, I said I’d share more about what’s going on in my life personally, so there it is. It’s something I’m focusing my prayer on right now and any of your prayers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks 🙂

Thanks man, I’ve been so blessed by the encouragement on this post. I love the part about praying for the Spirit to open opportunities, I know that I can’t do this on my own! Thank you for everything 🙂

Love your honesty in this one Brandon, you have been so open with us and it really help to know that we all face the same struggles. I find one thing that helps when speaking to people about Christ, is first….get to know them and let them know who you are, pray for the Spirit of God to open opportunities to talk about God, Salvation etc. You would be amazed that, these opportunities will open and most people are happy to hear about God and Christianity, even in the workplace. Remember also that we do not witness in our own strength, so God can use our weakness to be a POWER HOUSE for Him! 🙂

Thank you Fab! These posts are not necessarily in order (as far as I’m aware) but it’s still something I’d love prayer for. Thank you for the encouragement and wisdom 🙂

    Hey Brandon,

Coming from a country (Egypt) where speaking the truth is tabooed and forbidden, I can confidently say that I understand and feel you.
For the the past year I kept praying and asking for forgiveness as I couldn’t speak the truth. I was surrounded with friends that so openly shared Jesus with others. Though I couldn’t go up to people and start preaching, they came up to me.
How can I stop myself from stating the truth, specially to people that do not know or accept Christ? The miracles I saw and the transformations that I have witnessed are proof that God uses us even those that THINK they can’t. Don’t look at what you can or can not do, “ask and you shall receive”

I’m sure the Holy Spirit will guide you. 😉

Will be praying for you and will be waiting for your next post.

    Brandon,
Thanks for sharing… I’m praying for you today. May the Lord bless you as you continue to grow in His love!

Sharing Jesus with others is something that challenges most of us. In fact, most Christians don’t even bother. That’s a shame because it’s like keeping the best thing on earth a secret. There’s a book that you MUST read… In “Share Jesus Without Fear,” Bill Fay shows just how easy it is to simply share Jesus. A good understanding has helped me tremendously… and I pray that it will help you! http://is.gd/CnUwwN

Thanks again… I REALLY love your work here!

I hear you Brandon…..I want to be more sold out for Jesus…I mean really…….When I see Jesus face to face, I want him to say “Well, done, though good and faithful servant.”

I just wanted to say you are a gifted photographer and it is easy to see in your photos that you are fullfilling God’s purpose and bringing him glory with your nature photography.

Please be encouraged that you are not alone. I think as we approach the end day, it is harder and harder to live for Christ. But as the world gets darker, we can shine the light of Christ brighter.

Blessings in Christ and I found lots of encouragement in your website. Way to go! God Bless!
